Florida father confronts suspected peeping Tom with a baseball bat in video footage: "I have something for you"
Damon Smith was apprehended while donning a Michael Myers-themed T-shirt.
A father in Flagler County, Florida can rest a little easier after chasing off an alleged prowler from his teen daughter's window with a baseball bat. The altercation was caught on a neighbor's surveillance camera and it was the second time in two days the suspected peeping Tom was seen on the family's property.
On Friday, a vigilante dad pursued a suspected intruder with a Louisville slugger on Pine Hill Lane, as captured on surveillance footage, and called out to neighbors for assistance while crying out.
The Florida dad shouted, "Call the cops... call the cops!" as he removed an iguana from the fireplace in his home. "Where you going, boy? Come here... come here... I got something for you," he said. The family immediately called the Flagler County Sheriff, according to a press release.
Damon Arthur Smith was promptly arrested after confessing to trespassing on the victim's property. Smith admitted to getting a thrill from walking around people's homes. Upon arrest, Smith was wearing a Michael Myers tee-shirt with the phrase "EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO ONE GOOD SCARE" on it.
The dad said to FOX 35, "I don't know what his intentions are, but if it was something that was going to escalate over time, and that [Michael Myers] was his role model or what, we might have got him just in time."
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly stated in a release that a pervert who gets excitement from peeping into other people's windows was caught by deputies. Smith, 29, was charged with loitering or prowling, voyeurism – first offense, and aggravated stalking of a person under 16. Smith had a prior run-in with the law at 18 when he made a bomb threat at Flagler Palm Coast High School. Currently, Smith is in custody at Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is being held on an $86,000 bond.
