In various neighborhoods, including City Center, Georgetown, H Street Corridor, Logan Circle, and near Columbia Heights, the Metropolitan Police Department reported that businesses were targeted by burglars and their property was damaged.
In the City Center, Georgetown, H Street Corridor, Logan Circle, and a store north of Columbia Heights, groups of individuals destroyed property and burglarized businesses overnight, according to the police department.
The police boosted their presence in the region affected by the burglaries and vandalism, according to authorities.
An investigation is underway into six burglaries and six incidents of property destruction.
Multiple charges, including burglary and fleeing from law enforcement, have led to the arrest of five suspects.
Police stated that MPD detectives are still investigating these offenses and will ensure that offenders are held responsible.
An increased police presence will be maintained across the city following the overnight incidents.
The police department stated that it does not condone acts of violence or property damage.
