Florida's new law aims to safeguard first responders during their work on a call.

On January 1st, Senate Bill 184 will become law and prohibit individuals from approaching first responders while they are performing their duties.

The objective of the law is to enable police, fire, and EMS personnel to remain focused while providing essential first aid.

The barrier will prevent the public from approaching and harassing the responders while they work.

If violators do not heed the warning, they could face criminal penalties.

People who approach a first responder on the job will initially receive a warning, but could face a fine and up to 60 days in jail.

A penalty of up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine is imposed by the new law.

The bill also outlines that a violator could face a second-degree misdemeanor.
