FBI seeks additional information on NOLA terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar with release of new photo
Jabbar, Shamsud-Din, captured cycling in French Quarter.
In October, the FBI New Orleans released a photo of Shamsud-Din Jabbar riding a bicycle through the French Quarter, possibly during a scouting mission for the terror attack he carried out on New Year's, driving a pickup truck through a crowd of pedestrians and opening fire on police.
Jabbar was killed in a shootout with responding officers.
Jabbar was captured on camera riding a bicycle and wearing Meta smart glasses, which investigators claim he used to film and share videos. The photo was taken on Halloween, a day when many Americans venture out to celebrate.
Anyone who has information on the attack or Jabbar, or who was in the French Quarter between 2 and 6 p.m. on Oct. 31, is asked to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. Tips, including photos and videos, can also be submitted online.
In 2023, Jabbar, an ex-Army veteran who later found success at a consulting firm, spent 110 days in Egypt.
According to the FBI, he had previously visited New Orleans at least twice before the attack, in October and November, while wearing Meta glasses to record video along parts of Bourbon Street.
He rented a Ford F-150 EV in Houston using the Turo app and drove to Louisiana, posting Facebook videos about his support for ISIS.
On Jan. 1, he planted two coolers filled with IEDs but they did not explode during the early morning attack.
At 3:17 a.m., he drove recklessly around a parked police car and ran over pedestrians.
As panicked revelers scramble to escape, the video captures him speeding down the narrow street.
At least three cellphones and an Islamic State group flag were found in Jabbar's truck by the police.
