The FBI found a common chemical used for explosives in a Texas storage locker linked to Bourbon Street terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who the agency has identified as the person responsible for the New Year's attack in New Orleans.

Officials with the FBI's Houston field office stated that the storage unit was rented by Jabbar and was located approximately a mile from his Houston-area home in Harris County.

On Monday, during an overnight search by the FBI and the Harris County Sheriff's Office, bottles of sulfuric acid were found inside a cooler in the unit.

Sulfuric acid is a widely used and commercially available chemical that can be combined with other substances to create explosives.

Jabbar planted two IEDs in New Orleans but they failed to explode, according to FBI officials.

Jabbar had bomb-making materials at his Airbnb in New Orleans before the attack, as confirmed by authorities.

Bob Koenig, a neighbor, informed FOX 8 New Orleans that the yellow house contained bomb-making material and the bomb squad should examine it.

The FBI began investigating the incident that occurred on Bourbon Street at approximately 3:15 a.m. local time New Year's Day, where a 42-year-old U.S. citizen from Texas drove a Ford pickup truck into a crowd of revelers, as an "act of terrorism."

At the scene, the bureau declared the suspect dead after he got out of his rented vehicle and shot at law enforcement, who retaliated with fire.

The FBI announced that an ISIS flag, weapons, and an IED were discovered in a vehicle.
