Despite being sentenced to life in prison for her husband's murder, the killer wife remains unperturbed.
In 2015, Laurie Shaver was convicted of murdering her husband and burying him in their Florida backyard.
A woman from Florida who murdered her husband, concealed his body in their backyard, and attempted to implicate her 7-year-old daughter has been given a life sentence in prison.
In 2015, Michael Shaver, 36, was murdered by his wife Laurie Shaver, 41, and she was found guilty of second-degree murder in September.
On Tuesday, Shaver showed no emotion while being sentenced to life in prison, maintaining a straight gaze and nodding as the judge announced the verdict.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Michael, a technician at Disney World, was last seen in November 2015.
On March 9, 2018, Michael's body was discovered in the backyard of the five-acre Shaver home in Claremont, west of Orlando, after a friend reported him missing and police conducted a wellness check.
After his death, Shaver allegedly sent texts and Facebook messages pretending to be Michael.
In 2020, five years after Michael's death, Shaver was arrested for allegedly telling friends that he had left the family and moved away to other states.
In her trial, Shaver asserted that Michael was an abusive spouse and that her 7-year-old daughter had unintentionally killed him.
During the trial, Shaver's daughter, who is now 15, testified in her mother's defense, as reported by Fox35.
"I shot him," the teenager said under oath.
Shaver's attorney questioned, "Did you feel that firing that shot was necessary to prevent your mother's death?"
"Yes, yes," she said.
During the sentencing, Brian Shaver, Michael's brother, stated that while justice may provide some comfort, it cannot heal the wounds.
One of Michael's friends also submitted a plea to the judge requesting that Shaver be held accountable.
The letter stated that Laurie's actions were inhumane, ruthless, and savage, and her lack of repentance indicated that she would never change.
Shaver's attorney has filed an appeal to the verdict.
