Defense alleges that Cash App founder used a knife to snort cocaine, as shown in surveillance video before his death.
In April 2023, Bob Lee was murdered in San Francisco, and Nima Momeni was charged with the crime.
During closing arguments of the murder trial of Cash App founder Bob Lee in San Francisco, attorneys for the suspect presented a surveillance video that they claim shows Lee using a knife to snort cocaine hours before his death.
Nima Momeni's lawyers claimed that the knife used by Lee to attack their client in April 2023 was the same one used in the self-defense incident that resulted in Lee's death, as reported by KTVU.
During a bender that ended with a struggle under the Bay Bridge, Lee used a knife to "scoop and sniff" cocaine, according to a report by the station.
Zangeneh stated outside court on Tuesday that the knife found outside of the Caltrans parking lot was the same shape and size as the one held by the suspect.
The case is expected to go to the jury for deliberation on Wednesday.
On Monday, prosecutors stated that Momeni planned the attack after learning that the tech billionaire had introduced his younger sister to a drug dealer who allegedly gave her GHB and other drugs before sexually assaulting her at his apartment.
It is said that Lee was lured by Momeni to a secluded location near the Bay Bridge, where he was stabbed three times with a knife from his sister's kitchen set, and then driven away in his car.
If convicted, the 40-year-old Momeni faces 26 years to life in prison.
The two men were seen exiting the defendant's sister's condo at approximately 2 a.m. on April 4, 2023, and entering her BMW.
Near the Bay Bridge, where the stabbing occurred, other surveillance footage shows them exiting the car.
At 2:30 a.m., on a deserted downtown San Francisco street, Lee was discovered, bloodied and disoriented, and he called for assistance. Unfortunately, he passed away at a hospital.
During the trial, Momeni stated that he stopped his car near the Bay Bridge after hitting a pothole that caused Lee to spill the beer he was holding.
According to KRON, Momeni said that he made a bad joke and said he would spend his last night in town with his family instead of going to strip clubs. This angered the other person, who exploded in front of him, going from zero to one hundred in anger.
Momeni's story has been mocked by the prosecution, who pointed out that he did not call the police to report Lee's alleged attack, nor did he contact them after learning that Lee had died from stab wounds in the location where he had last seen him.
