Decades after being accused of killing a woman and abandoning her car at the airport, the suspect has been arrested.
In Ohio, a 60-year-old man, Jonathan Eric Link, was apprehended for the killing of 29-year-old Shannon Anderson.
An Ohio man has been charged with murdering his girlfriend, whose body was discovered 25 years ago, despite previously evading charges in the case.
On Monday, 60-year-old Jonathan Eric Link was arrested at his home in Centerville, Ohio for the murder of 29-year-old Shannon Anderson, as announced by the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office.
On July 30, 2001, Anderson was reported missing to authorities, and her remains were discovered on Aug. 16, 2001, in rural Ross County.
After nearly a quarter century, the defendant will finally be held responsible for the murder of Shannon Anderson, as stated by Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr.
In the Atlanta Airport parking lot, Anderson's car was discovered abandoned just months into the investigation.
Since a 2002 Montgomery County grand jury found insufficient evidence to indict Link for murder, the Kettering Police Department has collaborated with cold case detectives to investigate.
The Tactical Crime Suppression Unit (TCSU) was assigned to aid police and investigators from various law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service, in a recent case.
A second presentation of the case to a Montgomery County grand jury resulted in an indictment of Link for the murder of Anderson, after additional witnesses were found and forensic evidence was digitally tested.
Heck commended the outstanding efforts of the Kettering Police Department and the other collaborating agencies in solving the case, which was then presented to the grand jury.
An indictment against Link for two counts of murder has been scheduled for January 28th.
