Detectives are searching for a burglary crew in West Los Angeles that uses advanced methods to steal high-end valuables from homes in upscale neighborhoods.
The Los Angeles Police Department issued a community alert to neighborhoods such as Bel Air, Holmby Hills, and Pacific Palisades after a nanny was reportedly held at gunpoint during a home invasion in Sherman Oaks last week.
Almost every night, high-end and regular homes in our area, the south valley, experience home invasions and burglaries.
"I've spent my entire life in Sherman Oaks, 66 years, and the last decade in Los Angeles has been disastrous. However, this issue is fixable. Our current district attorney is incompetent and refuses to prosecute anyone if he continues to release offenders."
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office claims that three suspects stole thousands of dollars in luxury handbags and jewelry after breaking into a home in Sherman Oaks. They then fled in a vehicle and drove to Compton, where they allegedly broke into homes to evade the police.
The three suspects, aged 21 to 24, were arrested for home invasion robbery and residential burglary and face bail ranging from $225,000 to $2 million.
"District Attorney George Gascón stated that residential home invasions are deeply disturbing crimes that affect not only the victims but the entire community. He emphasized that homes are meant to be a sanctuary where people should feel safe and secure. Gascón assured the community that his office is fully committed to holding the perpetrators accountable and is working closely with law enforcement to bring justice to the victims."
"LAPD interim Chief Dominic Choi stated that the department will continue to utilize resources to address residential burglaries in Encino, West Los Angeles, and any other Los Angeles neighborhood being targeted by criminals. Although arresting these individuals is a step in the right direction, the work is not done."
The LAPD has informed West Los Angeles residents that a group of two to four unmasked and unidentified males are believed to be responsible for the recent string of home burglaries in their communities. These burglaries typically target homes that appear to be unoccupied, according to the Santa Monica Mirror.
According to the newspaper, the suspects frequently use ladders or climb up drain pipes to enter second-story master bedrooms of homes, where they then ransack the rooms for valuable items such as jewelry, watches, high-end purses, and cash.
The suspects are reportedly using Wi-Fi jammers to disrupt home security cameras and handheld short-range radios to communicate with getaway vehicles.
The Santa Monica Mirror reports that locals are being advised to report any suspicious activity and to install sliding glass doors with alarms, bolt down their safes, and equip them with GPS tracking devices, as recommended by the police.
A former FBI investigator, Bill Daly, advised property owners to take precautions such as keeping their lights and TVs on and slightly drawing their curtains to give the impression that people are busy and active in their homes even when they are absent.
Ensure that your extra vehicle is visible outside, rather than hiding it in the garage, to give the impression that someone may be present in and around the home.

"The office stated that this hotline will be a vital resource in obtaining information, supporting investigations, and preventing future offenses. The data gathered will be forwarded to the relevant law enforcement agencies for examination and follow-up."
