Brunch patrons scatter in panic as a car smashes through the windows of an Italian restaurant.
Customers narrowly avoided being hit by a car due to their quick thinking.
A car crashed into a Georgia restaurant on the weekend as customers were eating.
On Saturday at 3 p.m., a vehicle crashed into Fresca Trattoria, owned by Lisa Myers, according to her statement to FOX 5 Atlanta.
The restaurant in Stone Mountain, Georgia, specializes in Italian cuisine and was offering brunch at the time.
A video captures a group of customers fleeing from their seats and escaping two seconds before a car collided with their table.
A surveillance camera captured the car crashing into the restaurant's glass window and driving over vacant tables and chairs.
Despite Myers' statement that her daughter was nearly hurt in the incident, there were no reports of death or injuries.
"The restaurant owner told FOX 5 that the waitress, who is also his daughter, was standing near the car crash site three minutes before the car arrived. He is relieved that everyone involved was unharmed."
The driver of the vehicle informed the restaurateur that her brakes failed when her gas pedal became stuck.
Myers joked that the restaurant has become a new "drive-thru" after telling FOX 5 that she was uncertain if insurance would cover all the damage.
"We value [customers]," Myers stated. "We are uncertain about the scope of the woman's insurance coverage."
On Sunday night, the restaurant expressed gratitude to the local community for supporting the business following the incident through a Facebook post.
"The windows are boarded up, and the skies are cloudy, but we are choosing to see the silver lining," the post read. "Despite the challenges, we are grateful for the support of our community in Stone Mountain / Lilburn."
The Gwinnett County Police Department and Fresca Trattoria were contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for further comment.
