Brandon Judd: "Kamala Harris' House condemnation for border failure is long overdue but absolutely warranted."
Supporters of Harris argue against labeling her "border czar," claiming the migrant crisis is not her responsibility.
The House passed a bipartisan resolution on Thursday that formally labeled Vice President Harris as a "border czar," despite her supporters' denial of the term.
According to the former head of the union representing thousands of Border Patrol agents, it's been a long time coming.
"Brandon Judd, the former president of the National Border Patrol Council, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that it is long overdue but absolutely warranted; better late than never. He pointed out that when Biden was appointed to address the root causes of migration on March 21, he failed to do so, which defines him as a border czar."
Despite criticism for her immigration approach, Harris was tasked by President Biden to address the root causes of illegal immigration from three problematic countries in the Northern Triangle. However, illegal crossings reached their highest levels ever between 2021 and 2023.
"Judd stated that she didn't consider the push factors from cartels that drive criminal activities on the border. She refused to discuss crime and criminality on the border. Instead, she focused on issues that existed before her term as vice president and have existed forever. Despite these issues, President Trump was able to handle them without any problems."
In the 2020 presidential election, she advocated for the decriminalization of illegal immigration during a televised debate. Now, she is the leading Democrat candidate for the 2024 presidential race after Biden withdrew from the race. Despite stumbling through a debate against Trump last month and failing to reassure voters and the Democrat elite of his fitness to be commander in chief, he remains a formidable opponent.
Before the debate, Biden's immigration policies received record-low approval ratings, according to Planet Chronicle Polls.
Recently, migrants have been spotted crossing the southern border, originating from various regions globally, including Asia and Africa. According to Rep. Greg Murphy, R-N.C., illegal immigration from China has surged by 8,000%.
""Innocent lives have been taken across America due to criminal illegals, fentanyl is pouring in, and over 100,000 individuals now die from drug overdoses each year. Furthermore, our legal immigration process has been corrupted, and our nation's sovereignty has been compromised," Murphy stated after voting in favor of the condemnation."
In the first half of this year, the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua has increased its presence in the United States and is responsible for a series of robberies in New York City that targeted women's cellphones and purses.
Supporters of Harris have denied her the title of "border czar" and asserted that her mandate did not involve dealing with illegal immigration from countries outside the Northern Triangle.
The House resolution labels Harris as the "Border Czar" and criticizes her and the Biden administration for their inability to safeguard the US border.
The Biden administration has faced criticism over the issue of migrant crime. While statistics are not readily available, police departments who have traditionally remained silent about the immigration status of arrested suspects have been more vocal after arresting illegals for heinous crimes.
"Judd condemned the politician for not addressing the root causes she identified and refusing to discuss the cause of criminality on the border, stating that this is a great vote to condemn her and that even Democrats joined in support."
Four Democrats from states near the border and two other Democrats voted for the measure, which passed with 220 votes in favor and 196 against.
During a House debate on the measure, House Homeland Security Committee Chair Mark Green, R-Tenn., stated that Vice President Harris' job was to find the root causes of the crisis. However, he pointed out that she could have simply looked in the mirror to accomplish this task.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, the top Democrat on the Homeland Security Committee, criticized the measure condemning Harris as a "subpar effort at election interference." Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries accused Republicans of fabricating the "border czar" title.
