Officials in a New York county are giving a security briefing in preparation for President Trump's first campaign rally since his second assassination attempt.
At a news briefing prior to the event, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder aimed to alleviate concerns of voters regarding their safety protocols.
Trump will hold a rally at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday evening, following the U.S. Secret Service's shooting of an armed man who aimed a rifle at him from his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in that case, made his first appearance in federal court earlier Monday. He is accused of possessing a firearm and a gun with its serial number defaced.
More charges could be likely as the investigation continues.
In Butler County, Pennsylvania, on July 13, another individual wielding a firearm attacked a Trump rally.
According to authorities, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, fatally shot Corey Comperatore, 50, critically injured David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74.
He struck the former president in his right ear.
The security lapse that enabled a counter-sniper to climb onto a rooftop and kill the former president led to multiple investigations and a shakeup at the Secret Service's top ranks.
