As other students prepare to return, Apalachee High School's district increases security measures.
Apalachee High School will remain closed while Barrow County students return to classes Tuesday.
The district's superintendent says that students in Barrow County, Georgia will return to school next week with "more law enforcement" to provide "extra support and security" in the aftermath of the Apalachee High School shooting.
On Tuesday, Sep. 10, classes will resume for all students except those at Apalachee High School.
"We must be reunited promptly to progress and offer comfort to our students," he stated. "We will communicate with our Apalachee families individually about their return."
"We understand these are trying times, and we are here to assist you," LeDuff stated. "We will provide additional support and security, including increased law enforcement presence, at all of our schools."
A shooter at Apalachee High School in Winder killed four and injured nine others, prompting an announcement just days later.
As a community, we will continue to care for one another, as LeDuff stated in his message.
The four individuals who passed away after the shooting have been identified as students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, and math teachers Richard Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie.
According to Fox5 Atlanta, hundreds of people gathered for a vigil to pay tribute to the deceased.
"Now is the most crucial time for community, and the most vital action we can take is to support one another," Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., stated.
Jud Smith, Barrow County Sheriff, stated, 'I see community. I see people who love and care for one another.'
