The White House released financial disclosures revealing that Vice President Harris and her husband frequently donated to a nonprofit that opposes police and supports sanctuary cities.

Legal Aid DC, a nonprofit law group that serves impoverished Washington residents, has also advocated for reducing police budgets and decreasing patrols in high-crime areas.

The group expressed concern about any solution that increases police presence in DC public housing, particularly in light of the ongoing protest movement, using the hashtag #BlackLivesMatterDC on their official Twitter account just days after George Floyd's death in 2020. This was in response to a report that the city's top prosecutor was suing the Housing Authority for its alleged failure to address drug and gun crime.

The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington faced opposition from the group just a week after a proposed budget increase was presented.

The group posted that Legal Aid supports the effort to decrease police funding and reinvest in communities.

In 2020, following Floyd's death and the ensuing anti-police riots in cities across the country, including Minneapolis, Washington, New York, and Chicago, the posts were published.

In 2020, 52 U.S. Parks Police officers were injured while attempting to prevent rioters from reaching the White House, as stated by Ken Spencer, the chair of the U.S. Park Police Fraternal Order of Police.

He told Planet Chronicle Digital that he condemns any politician who supports an agency that endangers the safety of his officers and the public they protect.

Like many other departments, the agency, which was already struggling with staffing shortages, experienced a significant loss of officers following the riots, according to him.

The Washington Examiner disclosed the financial filings of Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, showing their donations.

"In 2023, the same year that Washington, D.C.'s mayor declared a state of emergency over youth crime, Kamala donated to a group that aimed to defund the police. This was revealed by Paul Mauro, a former NYPD inspector. The result of this can be seen in the sweeping crime reform bill that our capital city had to pass recently in order to counteract the destructive agendas of public servants who behaved more like campus activists. This revelation from a prosecutor highlights the reason why our cities look the way they do."

In November 2023, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a state of emergency due to youth violence.

Her office revealed that in the first nine months of 2023, there were 458 arrests of juveniles for robbery, which is 10% more than the total number of such arrests in all of 2022.

And crime wasn't just a youth problem.

Homicide rates in Washington's Metropolitan Police Department have decreased by 30% through August 12th, compared to the same time last year.

In 2023, the city reached a 20-year high in homicides with 274 cases. Since 2004, annual homicides exceeded 200 only three times, specifically in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

In 2023, there was a nearly 70% increase in robberies compared to 2022, while carjackings increased by over 80%. However, both have seen a significant decrease year-to-date.

"It's amazing how a small amount of enforcement can have a significant impact," Mauro remarked.

Washington lawmakers recently repealed several post-Floyd reforms almost unanimously.

Washington's City Council was urged by Legal Aid DC to become a "sanctuary" for illegal immigrants, with the organization advocating for changes to a bill to increase social benefits and housing assistance for homeless migrants arriving in the city.

To maintain public safety, police resources are needed for migrant shelters.

"Mauro stated that the charge that Kamala did nothing as President Biden's 'border czar' is false. While unvetted illegals flooded our borders and prison gangs like Tren de Aragua established a presence here, Kamala was funding a group to make our capital city a permanent sanctuary city. Those of us who got that wrong stand corrected."

In addition to donating to Howard University and the University of Southern California, the couple also contributed to several other California and Washington-based charities, including the Matthew Silverman Memorial Foundation, which focuses on preventing teen suicide.

Harris has supported other far-left nonprofits besides Legal Aid DC.

In 2020, she raised funds from her supporters for the Minnesota Freedom Fund, claiming it would be used to bail out Black Lives Matter protesters arrested during the anti-police protests following George Floyd's death.

The group also posted bail for individuals accused of violent crimes, including at least two who were charged with homicide.

A year after being released on bail, Shawn Michael Tillman was arrested again for allegedly shooting a rival at a train station six times.

Harris' office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
