At approximately 3:19 p.m. on Saturday, Gregory Clark, 58, was discovered by officers with blood on his clothing in his cell, according to the CDCR. Meanwhile, his cellmate, 41-year-old Darius Swain, was found unresponsive in the same cell, prompting an immediate call for assistance.

On January 25, 2021, he was given an additional two years in Kern County for assaulting a prisoner with a deadly weapon.
The cause of death for Swain will be determined by the Kern County Coroner. No information was provided about the events that occurred between the two men.
