An Indiana mother of three was reportedly killed by her ex-boyfriend while filming a TikTok video with a friend.
It is reported that Kaitlynn Lee's murder has led to the charging of Joshua Thompson.
In Indiana, a young mother of three was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend while filming a TikTok video, according to reports.
On August 10, Kaitlynn Lee, 25, was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound by New Albany Police after they were called to her apartment for a report of a shot-fired incident.
According to documents obtained by WAVE, Lee's friend informed police that they were filming a TikTok video in the kitchen when they heard loud noises at the window.
According to the friend's account, she claimed that she heard Lee inquire, "What are you doing here?" moments before being shot multiple times.
Before her friend was shot, she saw Joshua Thompson, Lee's ex-boyfriend, standing outside the window alone and aiming the gun at Lee.
According to the friend, Thompson and Lee have a toxic relationship and are always at odds with each other, as reported by WAVE.
Pamela Greenwell, Lee's aunt, stated that her niece had relocated three times in the past four months due to Thompson.
"Kaitlynn Greenwell shared with WAVE that in April of this year, she was beaten badly by someone and called her to seek help. Greenwell went to pick her up and found her blue and black all over. The person was arrested and brought to county jail. Despite an EPO being issued to protect Kaitlynn, it did not prevent harm from coming to her."
According to WAVE, Thompson ran away from the scene and called his brother crying. Thompson's brother informed the police that while on the phone, he confessed to shooting Lee in the head and killing her.
According to reports, Thompson phoned 911 and claimed to have shot the mother of his child, stating that he would surrender.
According to WAVE, Thompson was promptly apprehended by the police and is currently being accused of murder.
Despite a no-contact order, Thompson allegedly contacted police to inquire about Lee's whereabouts within the apartment.
The TikTok video of Lee and the other woman dancing, singing, and laughing was reviewed by detectives, who noticed that they turned away from the camera and looked toward the back kitchen window where Thompson was, according to WAVE.
The video abruptly shuts off as a blast is seen outside the window.
On Monday, Thompson appeared in court for the first time and is now facing additional charges, including invasion of privacy, criminal recklessness, and unlawful carrying of a handgun.
Until his trial on March 24, Thompson remains in custody without bond.
A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with funeral expenses and support Lee's young children.
"On Saturday, August 10th, Kaitlynn Lee, my cousin, was tragically shot and killed. This senseless act has left us all in shock and grief. Kaitlynn did not deserve to lose her life in such a cruel manner. Her babies, who are now left to grieve her loss, do not deserve to go through this pain and suffering. I cannot fathom how or why someone could do something so inhumane. Rest in peace, Kaitlynn."
Her 3 beautiful babies will have to grow up without a mother due to someone's selfish actions, Roberts stated.
The New Albany Police Department was contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for additional details.
