An Illinois woman is accused of fighting an elementary school principal following a drug-related incident, according to a report.
Rockford School Official Arrested Following Altercation Report
An elementary school principal in Illinois was attacked by a woman during a meeting, resulting in her arrest, according to reports.
On Wednesday morning at Welsh Elementary School in Rockford, an incident occurred involving Shakeda Barfield, as reported by WIFR.
According to the station, Barfield was at the school for a meeting with the principal when she allegedly dropped baggies of suspected cocaine. When the principal picked up the baggies, Barfield reportedly became upset and claimed that police would be called to the scene.
The principal was allegedly assaulted by a 33-year-old man who punched him in the face, scratched his face and arms, bit him, and used his tie to strangle him, according to WIFR.
According to media reports, she is currently being charged with possession of a controlled substance, aggravated battery to a school employee, and disorderly conduct.
Records indicate that Barfield is currently being held at the Winnebago County Jail without bond as of Saturday.
It’s not immediately clear what the meeting was about.
According to WIFR, the school was temporarily placed on lockdown as the brawl was unfolding.
The principal reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office declined to provide a comment on a request from Planet Chronicle Digital on Saturday.
