An Arkansas children's respiratory therapist was killed in a DUI crash involving an illegal immigrant from Honduras.

An Arkansas woman was killed in a fatal wreck involving a 30-year-old native of Honduras who had been living in the U.S. illegally.
On Sept. 9, Maynor Yair Sorto-Herrera was arrested by the Arkansas State Police for the fatal crash that occurred the previous morning. According to state police, Sorto-Herrera was driving a 2008 Ford F150 when it crossed the roadway and struck a 2016 Honda CRV head-on, killing Jennifer Ann Morton, 48, of Little Rock.
Police found Sorto-Herrera leaving the scene and took him to a hospital for injuries before detaining him at the Pulaski County Detention Center.
The suspect is accused of multiple offenses, including negligent homicide, battery, driving under the influence, violation of the concealed weapons act, reckless driving, driving without a license, failure to stop after an accident with death, and traffic violations.
In November 2018, Sorto-Herrera was deported from the U.S. after being arrested by U.S. Border Patrol near Laredo, Texas, on October 2018. The authorities are uncertain about when he returned to the U.S. He is currently being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
As per a police statement, Morton was a respiratory therapist at Arkansas Children's Hospital's Infant Toddler Unit for 24 years. Additionally, her obituary on the funeral home website reveals that she was a devoted member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed pampering her nephews.
"The Morton family is mourning the loss of Jennifer, who dedicated her life to caring for children, as stated by ASP Col. Mike Hagar. Our Troopers are committed to ensuring that the individual responsible for her death is held accountable, in honor of her memory."
