An American Airlines flight attendant, who had been serving the airline for decades, was tragically killed during a random attack while on a layover in Denver.
Over the weekend in Denver, two people, including Celinda Levno, 71, were fatally stabbed.
A suspect has been arrested for the murder of an American Airlines flight attendant who was among the victims of a random stabbing attack during a layover in Denver.
Over the weekend, four stabbings occurred, and Elijah Caudill, 24, was arrested by the Denver Police Department late Sunday evening.
Celinda Levno, a 71-year-old flight attendant based in Phoenix, was confirmed as one of the victims in a statement to Planet Chronicle Digital.
A spokesperson for the airlines stated that they are deeply saddened and grieving the senseless loss of their colleague, who was a victim of a crime. Their thoughts and support are with the family, loved ones, and colleagues of the deceased, and they are working closely with law enforcement to aid in the investigation.
The Association of Professional Flight Attendants, which represents American Airlines flight attendants, confirmed Levno's death in a statement to Planet Chronicle Digital.
"We regret to inform you of the untimely passing of Phoenix-based Flight Attendant Celinda Levno while on layover in Denver. Celinda began her career with America West in 1989. Her love for her horses, friends, and family will always be remembered. We stand in support with Celinda's family, friends, and our colleagues in Phoenix Inflight as they process this senseless tragedy."
In 1989, Levno started her career with American West, which eventually merged with US Airways and later American Airlines in 2013, as per the association.
Despite the stabbing not happening at the layover hotel in Denver, crews on a layover there will still be relocated to a hotel near the Denver International Airport.
On Saturday at approximately 5:17 p.m., police responded to reports of a stabbing and discovered Levno with neck wounds, along with two other victims who were injured.
Another male victim was stabbed late Sunday night and later died from his injuries. The police have not yet identified the victim. Levno was transported to a local hospital but was later declared dead.
No connection or motive for the attacks is known, according to investigators.
Caudill is currently being held in custody without bail and is facing charges of first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder.
The Metro Denver Crime Stoppers is requesting anyone with information or surveillance footage of the stabbings to contact them at 720-913-7967.
A GoFundMe page has been established by Levno's family and friends to assist with funeral expenses.
Celinda Anne Levno was a remarkable woman who, at the age of 71, continued to work diligently as a flight attendant.
She spent her free time with her beloved husband, John, and sister, Melanie. She was deeply involved in the Arabian horse industry and raised numerous horses throughout her life.
"Celinda was a kind and generous person who often played her flute in concerts. She was an amazing musician and did so much for others. Such a wonderful and selfless woman who was taken away too soon."
