An Alabama man is accused of abducting a woman and compelling her to marry him in a strange ceremony.
Allegedly, Roy Lee Clowder, 37, made the victim repeat their wedding vows.
A woman was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted by an Alabama man who posed as her husband, according to police.
According to Mobile County Metro Jail records, Roy Lee Clowder, 37, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree kidnapping, and first-degree robbery.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office informed FOX10 News that the incident occurred when the victim observed Clowder in the center of Alabama 188 while driving.
The suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and forced the woman to move to the passenger seat when she stopped.
At the time of the alleged drug influence, Clowder reportedly took the drugs to a church for a makeshift wedding.
Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch revealed to FOX10 News that at some point, they stopped at a church and made her recite wedding vows as if they were getting married.
The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the victim and drove them around Mobile County, according to FOX10.
The victim remained composed during the kidnapping and took note of their surroundings. They also recorded the "wedding" for law enforcement to review later.
The sheriff stated that after the kidnapping, the woman's family contacted law enforcement and it was discovered that she was missing. Clowder released her after being contacted by law enforcement.
