An 83-year-old employer in Florida was assaulted and robbed by his housekeeper, who was upset about not receiving a Christmas bonus.
Several charges, including robbery by sudden snatching, aggravated battery on a person over 65, and forgery, have been filed against Heather Nelson, 29.
On Christmas Eve, an 83-year-old employer in Florida was allegedly assaulted and robbed by her housekeeper after discovering that she would not receive a Christmas bonus due to insufficient funds.
The elderly woman was attacked and robbed by Heather Nelson, 29, after she refused to pay the $500 bonus demanded by the attacker, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey stated that Nelson physically took the victim's checkbook, stole a check from it, and also took Christmas cards that were set to be mailed out, which contained checks, in an attempt to ruin other people's Christmas as well.
Nelson was criticized by Ivey as being a "Grinch" who took things too far.
The sheriff repeatedly referred to Nelson as a "Grinch," and in the incident, he nearly broke the victim's wrist.
Ivey wrote: "You didn't stop there, did you? Not only did you commit battery and almost break the wrist of the elderly victim, but you also stole all her money and took Christmas gifts meant for others. What's next? Kicking her dog?"
It was discovered through an investigation that Nelson had written a stolen check for $1,400 and used the victim's credit card to pay for his own rent and other purchases.
On Tuesday, Nelson was arrested after the check was cashed and credit card transactions were recorded.
Nelson was arrested by deputies on charges of robbery by sudden snatching, aggravated battery on a person over 65, forgery, uttering a forged instrument, criminal use of personal identification, fraudulent use of a credit card, and grand theft.
Ivey wrote: "Of course, since you were so concerned about receiving your bonus, we had some additional gifts for you, including a keepsake booking photo, a slightly used pair of shower slides, and unlimited access to our world-renowned one-star dining facility where you can savor nothing you eat."
She was booked on a $30,000 bond but released on Thursday.
