Altadena resident discovers that his home is the only one left standing on his block amidst the Los Angeles wildfires.
Video footage of devastation in Los Angeles County is captured by Enrique Balcazar.
A man from California who lives on a block with only one home left unscathed by the Eaton Fire recorded a video of the destruction in his neighborhood, stating, "God had a plan to keep me safe."
On Jan. 9, Enrique Balcazar captured the video of the aftermath of his community in Altadena.
""On my right side, the entire street is destroyed, including the corner house and the two houses in front, while only my house remains unburnt," he stated."
"I don't know why I deserve this, but I don't think I do. But God bless everyone else with plenty of insurance to rebuild. God knew what he had to do to protect me," Balcazar said, getting emotional.
Balcazar's video captures him surveying his property for damage as he pans the camera around, revealing a neighborhood in ruins with crows chirping in the background.
"Behind me, how could this be true? Everybody's house is burned down," Balcazar remarks, as he observes how the lumber he used to build an extension on his house was consumed by the wildfire.
"Even though the lumber we used to build the extension of my house was intact, but my lumber burned down. How could that happen if not by God's will? My neighbors have disappeared," he said.
In the video, Balcazar discloses that a part of his garage's roof was still burning at one point.
"The garage remains standing, and I don't comprehend how this occurs. This is God," he stated.
Before the video ends, Blacazar stated, "We will put water on that now and ensure it doesn't reignite."
"The entire house is still here, and I thank God for it," he said.
