A woman was fatally shot in New York City during an apartment building robbery, according to police.
After witnessing her husband being robbed, Ying Zhu Liu, 57, was shot.
On Monday, a 57-year-old woman was shot and killed by a burglar in her New York City apartment building, authorities reported.
On Tuesday afternoon, the New York Police Department confirmed to Planet Chronicle Digital that the shooting occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on Market Street in the Lower East Side.
Liu, 57, was identified as the homicide victim, and the NYPD informed FOX 5 New York that her husband was followed to their apartment on the eighth floor just before the murder occurred.
Before Liu exited the apartment, two suspects attempted to rob the husband. Meanwhile, the couple's 32-year-old son appeared in the hallway.
The two suspects stole the husband's cellphone and ran away from the scene, leaving Liu shot twice in the face.
The NYPD stated that upon arrival, they observed a 57-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the head, who was unconscious and unresponsive.
"At the scene, the female was declared dead by EMS personnel."
As of Tuesday night, the NYPD has not made any arrests, according to Planet Chronicle Digital.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident. No further details are available at present.
