A convicted murderer, Raul Meza Jr., 63, is currently accused of killing two more people and may face life in prison after being linked to the murders through DNA evidence. Meza was previously convicted in 1982 for murdering 8-year-old Kendra Page. He appeared in court on Tuesday, August 27 to discuss a potential plea deal with Travis County Judge Julie Kocurek for life in prison for one murder and 20 years for another. This plea deal would make Meza eligible for parole in 40 years, at 103 years old. Meza's defense attorney, Russell Hunt, argued that Meza is ready for the ordeal to be over, not just for himself but for the whole community.

Judge Kocurek rejected the defense's argument and demanded life without parole for Julie Kocurek. Meza glared at the prosecutor until the judge ordered him to stop.

Kendra Page's sister Tracy expressed relief after learning that the body of the murderer was found in the same Austin lake where other deceased individuals were discovered in recent months. Meza, who was sentenced to 30 years for the murder of Tracy Page, served only 11 years before being released on parole. His defense attorney, Russell Hunt, stated that Meza has expressed remorse to the extent that he can.

Tracy Page stated that Meza had no remorse.

Jesse Fraga, a former probation officer, provided Meza with a place to stay before being murdered at the age of 80. Gloria Lofton, who was 66 at the time of her murder, was also a victim.

Meza is linked to over 10 unsolved homicide cases in the Austin, Texas area.

Since 2019, Austin's murder rate has been steadily increasing, with at least 5 bodies discovered in Lady Bird Lake in the past year. Additionally, Austin police are seeking public assistance in a case that may involve a serial killer.
