A suspect in a New York state murder is an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic, according to police.
The Dominican Republic National is also sought after in his homeland for a 2019 homicide.
On Friday, the police announced the arrest of Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano, a 34-year-old illegal alien from the Dominican Republic, who is believed to be responsible for the murder of a family of four in upstate New York last month. Pimentel-Soriano is also wanted in his home country for another murder in 2019.
On September 7, Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano was arrested after an extensive investigation following the release of a Haitian illegal immigrant at the US border last year.
"According to the Irondequoit Police Department, Mr. Soriano entered Puerto Rico illegally and obtained fraudulent New York identification. As a result, he was able to travel from Puerto Rico to the United States mainland."
The family's bodies were discovered in the basement while firefighters were addressing several fires at the home that morning. After further investigation, police could determine the cause of death for the family was not related to the fires.
The Moreno family's home on Knapp Avenue in Irondequoit has been the site of a makeshift vigil for the past two weeks, featuring stuffed animals and photos of the victims. Although the police have stated that limited information will be released at this time, the search for justice continues as part of an active investigation by the Irondequoit Police Department. The Irondequoit Police Department did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
