Over the weekend, officials discovered human skeletal remains in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
On Saturday, a local deer hunter found the remains on private property and immediately informed law enforcement.
The sheriff's office stated that they cannot provide specific details about the race, gender, or age of the remains, as identifying them will be a time-consuming procedure.
Elijah Vue, a 3-year-old child, went missing in February in Two Rivers. Despite Sheriff Dan Hartwig's acknowledgement of the case, it is currently unclear if the discovered remains are linked to it. The search for Elijah has garnered rewards totaling $40,000.
The sheriff wrote that although we are aware of the ongoing case of missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue, who disappeared in February, we cannot confirm if the discovered remains are related to this case.
The incident remains under investigation.
The sheriff's office is collaborating with various agencies, including the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Anthropology Department, Two Rivers Police Department, and the Manitowoc County Coroner's Office.
The sheriff stated that additional updates will be given as they become available.
