Officials claim that a woman from New Jersey is being charged with murder after allegedly striking her mother with a blunt object, resulting in the mother's death.
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday that Breanna Beacham, 32, was charged with first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
An assault was reported at a home on Hopewell Lane in the Hawthorne Park neighborhood of Willingboro, prompting the police to be called shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday.
Upon their arrival at the house, the police found the lifeless body of Kim Beacham-Hanson, a 57-year-old singer-songwriter who is the suspect's mother.
Beacham was temporarily staying at the home with her mother.
On Monday evening, she was arrested at her home and is currently being held in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly until a detention hearing is held.
A preliminary investigation determined that Beacham-Hanson had been bludgeoned to death.
After conducting an autopsy, the Burlington County Medical Examiner concluded that the death was a homicide resulting from numerous blunt injuries.
The cause of the attack is currently unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
