A man from New Jersey is charged with setting fire to his girlfriend's parents' home after an argument between the couple, resulting in the evacuation of everyone inside.

At approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday, a verbal dispute between Leonard Jones, 50, and his girlfriend inside a house on 155 Old Beekman Road in South Brunswick led to the start of a fire, according to a news release from the South Brunswick Police.

After refusing to leave following an argument, Jones was told to leave, prompting the police to be called to the home.

As officers were en route to the house, a second 911 call arrived reporting that the house was ablaze.

According to ABC 7, Det. Sgt. Tim Hoover of the South Brunswick Police Department stated that they had been called to the residence twice earlier, first at midnight for a noise complaint which was resolved, and then 10 minutes before the fire, about an out-of-control male.

"The fire had broken out and seemed to be out of control when officers received a call. By the time they arrived, the house was fully engulfed," Hoover continued.
