A Missouri police officer mom was killed during a high-speed chase, leaving behind 6 children.

On Sunday, a Missouri police officer, who was also a mother of six, lost control of her patrol car during a high-speed pursuit and was subsequently killed, authorities stated.
A speeding vehicle was spotted by Osage Beach Police Officer Phylicia Carson, 33, while on patrol at approximately 1:18 a.m. on westbound Highway 54, as stated by Chief Todd Davis during a news conference.
Davis claimed that the driver sped away after Carson tried to pull over the vehicle with her police lights activated.
Carson's patrol car skidded off the road and struck a tree before catching fire, resulting in her death, as stated by Davis.
The speeding driver crashed minutes later before being taken into custody.
Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer, 23, was charged with aggravated fleeing a stop or detention of a motor vehicle, resulting in a death.
According to online jail records, he is being held in the Camden County Jail without bond.
Carson departs with a spouse and six offspring, according to Davis. She commenced her legal enforcement vocation at the Osage Beach Police Department in June 2023.
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson expressed on social media that Carson's family and community will continue to be in his prayers.
"Officer Carson will not be forgotten," Parson wrote.
Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe and his wife, Claudia, expressed their heartfelt condolences to Officer Carson's husband, her six children, and her fellow officers.
Law enforcement officers bravely serve their communities, and we must remember them in the face of threats, as Kehoe wrote.
Missouri State Highway Patrol is leading the crash investigation.
