A member of the MS-13 gang was apprehended and accused of slaying a content couple, according to police reports.
The Virginia sheriff criticized the "lack of seriousness" in dealing with migrant offenders.
An illegal immigrant from MS-13 gang has been arrested in Virginia for allegedly committing a double homicide.
On Friday, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office apprehended 18-year-old Marlyn Medrano-Ortiz as a suspect.
Earlier last week, a teenager was arrested in Alexandria and charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.
On Aug. 28 in Sterling, Virginia, Medrano-Ortiz is alleged to have killed Mijal Conejero-Romera and Diego Alexander Woollett, both of whom were 22 years old.
According to investigators, two people with gunshot wounds were discovered and transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later declared dead.
According to a recent press release from Loudon County Sheriff Mike Chapman, the pair were "shot and killed following an apparent altercation" at approximately 4:33 a.m on Aug. 28.
One of Conejero-Romera's close friends revealed to WUSA that the two victims were in a romantic relationship.
"Tinayia Henderson told the local outlet, "Her family said he treated her like a princess and they seemed so happy.""
In his statement on Friday, Chapman revealed that the investigation required a significant amount of resources.
Over 320 residential units and 30 businesses were canvassed by numerous patrol units, including more than a dozen detectives and members of our Dive, K-9, Drone, and Search and Rescue Units, the official stated.
"The investigation involved the use of 39 search warrants, the work of Crime Analysts and Digital Forensic Examiners who reviewed over 950 hours of video, multiple cell phones and laptops, along with tower dumps, license plate readers, and other analysis."
MS-13 was condemned by Chapman, who criticized the "lax attitude" towards illegal immigrants.
"The sheriff stated that he strongly opposes the presence of MS-13 and other violent gangs in our country and local communities. He emphasized that MS-13, an El Salvador-based gang, employs intimidation, crime, and violence to achieve their objectives, and there should be no tolerance for such activities."
"I have expressed my opposition to the casual treatment of individuals in this country who are in the country illegally and have committed crimes against U.S. citizens and others."
""MS-13 operates throughout the northern Virginia region, and just this summer Loudoun experienced one of the most horrific crimes in memory," Chapman stated."
