A Massachusetts mother charged with murdering her three children is using the insanity defense.
The 32-year-old's decision to allegedly murder her children can be traced back to the events detailed in court documents.
In January 2023, 11 search warrants were issued by the Plymouth District Court, but the resulting records remained sealed until now, with 299 pages of documents being unsealed.
The items collected included exercise bands, medications, computers, notebooks, phones, a belt, a bathrobe, pajamas, and a silver knife using warrants.
The mother of three informed her husband of six years, Patrick Clancy, that she was feeling "anxious" about resuming her job as a labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Lindsay visited psychiatrists and was prescribed several medications, including Zoloft, Valium, Trazodone, Ativan, Klonopin, Prozac, and Seroquel, as informed by Patrick to the police.
A month ago, Patrick shared with a family friend his wife's struggles with anxiety and expressed concern that she was experiencing withdrawal symptoms from her prescription medication, according to records obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital.
The documents contained information about Clancy's actions before she was accused of murdering her three children.
On January 24th, Clancy took her daughter to a pediatrician, called a local CVS store for a stool-softener prescription, and dined at the ThreeV restaurant in Plymouth.
According to court documents, she utilized Apple Maps on her cellphone to calculate the travel time from her Duxbury home to ThreeV in Plymouth.
Allegedly, Clancy texted her husband to pick up takeout from the restaurant and medication from CVS.
Upon Patrick's arrival home, there was "silence," as per court documents.
Eventually, he found blood on the floor and noticed an open window.
He discovered Lindsay lying on the ground in the backyard with cuts to her wrists and neck, and immediately called 911, as stated in court documents.
Last week, Assistant District Attorney Jennifer L. Sprague filed a request with the Plymouth Superior Court for a September trial date, as reported by Boston 25 News.
Although DNA testing results and expert reports are impressive, it is believed that this discovery will be completed before September 2025.
