A man previously charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, and now accused of a woman's disappearance and murder.
In Cumberland County, North Carolina, Tyrell Siermons, who is accused of killing Heather Williams, has a lengthy criminal history.
On Thursday, a man was arrested by North Carolina authorities for the disappearance and murder of 25-year-old Heather Williams from Fayetteville.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD), Williams went missing on Jan. 4 at around 10 p.m. when she was last seen getting into a light-colored, four-door sedan in the Berkshire Road area.
Tyrell Jaquez Siermons, 30, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder by the FPD Homicide Unit, with assistance from the department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, in connection with Williams' death.
On Jan. 10, six days after being reported missing, the 25-year-old woman was found dead in a wooded area near Newark Ave. and State Ave.
In Cumberland County, the suspect has a criminal history that is extensive, according to court records. Additionally, he is currently facing a probation charge from out of state, which was issued on January 16th, the same day he was charged with first-degree murder. This means that at the time of the out-of-state charge, he was already on probation in North Carolina.
His criminal history dates back to 2011 and includes charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony possession of a firearm, being a habitual felon, common law robbery, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony probation violation, breaking or entering, and larceny.
The FPD did not mention any connection between the suspect and the victim, but stated that the vehicle Williams got into on Jan. 4 ultimately led them to Siermons.
WRAL reported that police stated that Williams suffered from cognitive impairment, which her family attributed to being struck by a car in 2015.
Mary Williams, Heather's sister, disclosed to WRAL that she reached out to a man on Heather's phone log at the same time she departed her home on January 4th. She inquired about the type of vehicle he drove and whether he had picked up Heather that night.
Mary revealed that she met the person on Facebook, either through Facebook Dating or Messenger, but she couldn't recall which. She also stated that she spent time with them one night, but she wasn't certain if it was on a Saturday.
Mary stated that she followed up with the man later, who confirmed that the car that picked her up was the same one. She believes Siermons is the man she contacted from Heather's phone, as reported by WRAL.
