A Kentucky police officer was shot by a Florida school employee who was later arrested.
Two counts of attempted murder are being faced by Thomas, 35.
In Kentucky, a Florida man was apprehended following allegations that he aimed a gunshot at two police officers.
On December 28, Tombe Juma-Kose Thomas, 35, was arrested by Louisville Police and is currently being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $250,000 bond. He is facing two counts of attempted murder and a preliminary court hearing in Kentucky is scheduled for Tuesday.
At an Airbnb on Reutinlinger Avenue, where Thomas was staying with his girlfriend during a family visit, the Louisville Police were called.
Suspicious that someone had entered their home, Thomas locked himself in the bathroom and accused his girlfriend of setting him up.
Police officers arrived and announced their presence by knocking on the bathroom window, according to the police.
The bullet passed just over the officers' heads without causing any harm.
Thomas eventually exited the house and was placed under arrest.
He admitted to firing a warning shot through the window later on.
Thomas is an instructor for the Positive Alternative to School Suspension program at Atlantic High School in Volusia County Schools, Florida, where he previously worked as an Exceptional Student Education instructor at Deltona High School. He has also been a football coach at both schools.
"The district stated that law enforcement needs additional details as it's an active investigation. VCS has also opened an internal professional standards investigation on the individual. Further action will be determined based on the findings of both investigations."
Thomas is also a former fullback for Syracuse University.
