A Houston pimp suspected of human trafficking was arrested after being admitted to the hospital.
On New Year's Eve, Thaddeus Allen was admitted to a Houston hospital due to an alleged drug overdose, according to investigators.
A Houston pimp who fled during a trial that resulted in a 75-year prison sentence for human trafficking is now back in custody.
In April 2023, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Thaddeus Allen, 36, who had failed to appear for his trial, as stated by then-Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg.
On New Year's Eve, Allen was admitted into a Houston hospital under an alias after overdosing on PCP and methamphetamine. Now, FOX 26 in Houston reports that Allen is back in custody.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office Violent Criminal Apprehension Team found Allen on Monday after receiving a tip.
"Andy Kahan of Houston Crime Stoppers stated that Thaddeus Allen, who was once known as 'The Ghost,' is a notorious human trafficker and pimp who turns girls into traffickers. He is considered the poster child for these crimes."
On Sunday, Houston Crime Stoppers did not promptly provide Planet Chronicle Digital with details about the arrest.
From April 10 to April 14, Allen was present in court for five days during his weeklong trial.
On the sixth day of court, he did not show up to listen to the closing arguments in his case.
Although not physically present in the courtroom, the jury reached a verdict on Allen's guilt of human trafficking after hearing about his extensive criminal history, which included charges for aggravated promotion of prostitution involving multiple women.
Allen will be sentenced to 75 years in prison, with the requirement to serve half before becoming eligible for parole.
Allen, with a history of felony convictions, was labeled a "habitual offender" by the DA's office, with charges of evading police and burglary among them.
After being accused of human trafficking and other offenses, Allen was released from jail after posting a bail of $200,000.
"Kahan told FOX 26 last week that the man had been in and out of prison. "Crime Stoppers put out a $15,000 reward for any information leading to his arrest," Kahan said. "I'm trying to find out if it was one of our tips that led to his arrest. This is a good day that we finally got him back in custody.""
The sheriff's office caught up with Allen and he remained in custody at the hospital. Once he is released, detectives told the station that Allen would head straight to jail.
