Houston Police discovered the bodies of victims in the same apartment where Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, was found sleeping on the couch.
A 28-year-old mother and her 2-year-old child were fatally stabbed by a Houston man who has been arrested and charged.
According to the Houston Police Department, Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, has been charged with capital murder for the deaths.
According to a news release, HPD officers were notified at 3:30 a.m. on Friday that an adult female and child were being held hostage in an apartment.
During a safety sweep, the officers discovered the victims in the apartment.
The victims sustained multiple stab wounds and were declared dead at the scene, according to the HPD.
Homicide detectives, in collaboration with the Harris County District Attorney's office, concluded that the evidence was sufficient to charge and incarcerate Fisher in the Harris County Jail due to injuries consistent with a physical confrontation and bloodstains on his clothing.
According to jail records, Fisher was released from prison in December of last year after serving a seven-year sentence for armed robbery and additional time for contraband.
The identities have not been released pending next of kin notification.
