Earlier this week, a Food Lion employee was discovered deceased inside a freezer at one of the company's Raleigh, North Carolina stores, according to police.
The Raleigh Police Department received a report of a deceased person at a grocery store on the 4500 block of Capital Blvd. at approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, which is about two miles northeast of Downtown Raleigh.
According to local reports, co-workers discovered the body and subsequently called the police.
According to WFMY News 2, citing police, a man who has not been identified suffered a medical emergency and foul play is not suspected.
According to CB17, a police officer stated that the man experienced the episode on Monday night and ultimately passed away within the freezer.
A Raleigh Police Department spokesperson informed Planet Chronicle Digital that the incident is being probed as a "death investigation."
A Food Lion spokesperson has stated that the company is "deeply saddened" by the unexpected loss of one of its employees.
The statement reads: "We deeply mourn the associate's family and friends, and Food Lion is working with local authorities in their investigation of this unfortunate incident."

The regional supermarket chain Food Lion, with its headquarters in Salisbury, North Carolina, operates over 1,100 stores and employs more than 82,000 people, as stated on its website.
