A Florida woman was apprehended by deputies following accusations of repeatedly stabbing her boyfriend's dog.
Animal cruelty and resisting arrest charges have been brought against Megan Lynn Mileskiewicz.
On Sunday, a Florida woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend's dog multiple times. Later, she admitted to making a mistake, according to law enforcement officials.
Megan Lynn Mileskiewicz, a 23-year-old individual, was taken into custody by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office for charges of animal cruelty and resisting arrest.
On Sunday at 10:45 a.m., the sheriff's office stated that deputies were dispatched in response to a 911 call reporting that a woman was repeatedly stabbing her boyfriend's dog inside the home.
Witnesses claimed that Mileskiewicz escaped through the back door of the residence when deputies arrived at her Spring Hill home.
In the backyard, a tool shed was used as a hiding spot by Mileskiewicz, who was found face down on the ground and surrounded by shrubs after a brief search by deputies.
The suspect was reportedly ordered by deputies to crawl out of the bushes, but she refused and was eventually removed from the hiding spot and taken into custody.
Near his backside, the 2-year-old pit bull sustained two lacerations that were 2 to 3 inches long, as observed by the sheriff's office.
The bleeding wounds were not life-threatening, the deputies observed.
A witness claimed that without warning, Mileskiewicz became enraged with the dog and grabbed a pocketknife in an attempt to stab it.
After allegedly witnessing Mileskiewicz stabbing the dog repeatedly, the witness called 911.
The sheriff's office stated that Mileskiewicz was informed of her Miranda Rights prior to disclosing to investigators that the dog was "annoying" her. Additionally, she is accused of admitting to making a mistake and becoming agitated.
Mileskiewicz was arrested for animal cruelty and resisting arrest without violence. She was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center and her bond was set at $3,500, according to court records.
