A Florida woman purposely drove over her boyfriend and their toddler with her car, according to the sheriff.
Aaliyah Ross admitted to pretending to run over someone in the past but would swerve at the last second to avoid hitting them.
On Monday, a Florida woman was arrested for running over her boyfriend and their 16-month-old son during an argument, as stated by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, Sheriff Grady Judd stated that the incident started when Aaliyah Ross, 27, was having an argument with her boyfriend inside her home. The boyfriend, who is the father of the 16-month-old, decided to step outside to cool off, and took the child with him. However, instead of calming down, he threw a cinder block at Ross' car.
According to FOX 13 Tampa Bay, Ross got angry and placed a 4-year-old and a 6-month-old in her car before sitting behind the wheel.
Judd stated that she lunged her car toward her boyfriend and the toddler once before driving over them both.
Ross continued driving until he collided with a neighbor's house, according to Judd. Afterward, he retrieved his injured son and returned home, while his girlfriend went to the hospital for treatment.
According to Judd, the child is in a critical condition after being left alone at home by the suspect, who allegedly made her way to her sister's home in Orlando and was later arrested by the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
According to Judd, the boyfriend returned home to get him and they both went to the hospital. Additionally, the other two young children were found, and their custody plan is being assessed by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Judd stated that it was evident that they were not satisfied with her behavior. She had clearly breached the laws of the state of Florida.
The boyfriend was treated for bruising to his lungs and body and has been released from the hospital, according to FOX 13. Meanwhile, the toddler sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured left shoulder and collarbone, broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung, and abrasions and bruising on his body.
He remains hospitalized in Tampa, Judd said.
Ross was arrested on Tuesday for simple domestic battery, hit-and-run resulting in property damage, aggravated battery, child neglect without bodily harm, and aggravated child abuse, according to Orange County Jail records.
Ross claimed to have pretended to run over her boyfriend multiple times in the past, but would swerve at the last second to avoid hitting him. She also assumed he would move out of the way, as reported by FOX 13.
Judd replied, "You're referring to insanity? Allow me to present this insane woman," as he displayed Ross' photo.
