According to authorities, at least 10 people are dead and dozens are injured after a driver crashed a car into a crowd of New Year's celebrants on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
According to WGNO, the incident took place at approximately 3:15 a.m. near the intersection of Bourbon Street and Iberville.
"A mass casualty incident has occurred on Canal and Bourbon Street. Stay away from the area," NOLA Ready advised on social media.
A mass casualty incident is currently being worked on by the 8th District, involving a vehicle that drove into a large crowd on Canal and Bourbon Street, according to city officials.
At least 10 people died and 30 were injured in the incident, according to the NOLA City website, which announced that NOEMS transported the patients to local hospitals.
Police have not confirmed the total number of victims involved in the incident.
Earlier this morning, a violent act occurred on Bourbon Street in Louisiana, according to Gov. Jeff Landry's statement.
"Sharon and I invite you to join us in praying for the victims and first responders at the scene. Kindly stay away from the area if you are close by."
