A cybersquatter made a profit of 15k by selling a website related to the Harris-Walz ticket.

In 2016, Jeremy Green Eche, 36, accurately predicted the outcome of the Clinton-Kaine presidential campaign on ClintonKaine.com.

In 2020, a Brooklyn millennial with foresight purchased HarrisWalz.com. Four years later, the self-proclaimed "cybersquatter" made $15,000 selling the domain after Vice President Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her presidential running mate.

Jeremy Green Eche, a 36-year-old trademark attorney, revealed that he frequently engages in "buying sprees" on websites such as Name.com and GoDaddy, acquiring domain names that match potential political campaigns.

Although some people who purchase domain names become angry with me for using the term "cybersquatting," I am comfortable with it. According to Eche, "I buy domains with politicians' names in them, and I believe it fits the definition of cybersquatting. However, it's worth noting that the brand 'Harris Walz' didn't exist until yesterday."

"The lawyer stated that seizing a domain from a cybersquatter is a lengthy and expensive process, which makes it unreasonable for a presidential campaign to undertake it. The cost of such an action would exceed $15,000, which would be more than the campaign budget."

In August 2020, Eche purchased 15 domain names related to Harris, combining her name with "every folksy white man he could think of who was popular at the time."

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee have all signed executive orders to ban the sale of assault weapons.

Eche stated that each domain name costs approximately $10 to purchase, and he pays the small amount annually to keep the website active.

Eche stated that it was mostly speculation – he is a native of Brooklyn and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America chapter in New York City.

Eche, an autograph dealer, came up with the concept of buying political domains.

"Eche considered the possibility of selling domains in a similar manner to Obama's signed books on eBay for around $500 each."

In 2016, Eche made a correct guess that paid off when he owned ClintonKaine.com. He had also purchased ClintonBooker.com and ClintonBiden.com in case the then-Democratic nominee chose Sen. Cory Booker or Joe Biden as her running mate.

Jeremy Peter Green, who later became Eche, was living in a basement and relying on credit card debt. His hope was to sell the domain name for $10,000.

Eche, who received $2,000 from the Clinton campaign, showcased his Harry Potter-themed political fan fiction on the site. He later sold the domain to an anonymous buyer for $15,000, who turned out to be a member of the Trump campaign. The site was later used to publish anti-Clinton news during the election.

"In 2016, he was deeply disappointed when the Clinton campaign did not offer him a serious role, and he hopes the Harris campaign will be more strategic and proactive this time around."

On Tuesday, Eche sold HarrisWalz.com on his online marketplace to a stranger for $15,000, according to Planet Chronicle Digital.

Eche stated that the individual who purchased the domain from him claimed to be a Harris supporter and was doing so to prevent the Trump campaign from acquiring it, similar to their actions with ClintonKaine.com in 2016.

Now, Eche feels like the "best political cybersquatter ever."

"Eche shared that he had experienced a strange sense of deja vu in the past few days. He felt like he was reliving the same experience he had eight years ago. Despite the repetition, he found it comforting, as if it was not a coincidence."

Eche stated that he would retain the other domains related to Harris in the event that the current vice president decides to run again.

"These domains are valuable for the 2024 election and will retain their value in 2028 if Harris runs in that year, making them an excellent investment, as stated by Eche on his online marketplace where he is currently selling them."

He mentioned that he bought 10 domain names related to Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for potential future presidential runs, anticipating Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, and Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth as her potential running mates, and is seeking $9,900 for each domain.

""Anyone who is selected as a vice presidential running mate is, in essence, a potential candidate for the presidency in the future," Eche stated."

Eche also buys Republican-themed domain names, with his prediction for this year being TrumpCotton.com.

""J.D. Vance was not on my radar when I bought these domains in advance. I wish I had thought of buying it when he was running for Senate," Eche said."

The Harris campaign could not immediately be reached for comment.
