A California resident recounts the harrowing events that led to the loss of their home: "I've lost everything I care about."
The boy mourned the loss of the chimney, where Santa arrives, and expressed disappointment that they no longer receive presents.
The fires in Southern California continue to rage, with no sign of resolution in sight.
In Altadena, a family is grieving the loss of something far more valuable than homes and luxury vehicles, which celebrities are lamenting on social media.
The boy from Altadena, along with his mother and brother, stands next to the mangled siding and bricks of a house in the background, with the burnt wreckage of many other homes visible.
The boy, despite his fear, recounts the terrifying moments before losing his home while tightly holding onto the only two things he possesses.
The power went out, and we were going to get our dad, but he was coming. We had power and flashlights, which were great. I went and woke up my brother and me. Then we left our house.
He stated that all items in the house were burned, including his cherished 3D printer.
"The boy said, "It was so special to me, but I don't know why, this is what happened to our house. A lot of stuff that I love is gone, and now everything is broken and has lost its color. All I have left are these things.""
The boy, looking dejected, displays the remains of his parents' bicycles and explains that he came to the site of his old home to verify the damage and assess what was left.
"My dad took a video of the chimney where Santa comes, which was our destination today. Unfortunately, it's now gone, so we can't get presents here anymore."
The wildfire continues to burn across thousands of acres.
The mother posted on social media that she was exhausted from the incident and the family was trying to rebuild their lives. She revealed that the brand-new 3D printer mentioned in her son's interview was something they had been waiting for over a year to receive.
She remarked on how rapidly everything had transpired, stating that it occurred so swiftly and that she didn't give much thought to the fire until it intensified due to the wind.
"The neighborhood was consumed in less than 5 hours, leaving us with only what we could carry. We grabbed our kids and dogs and ran for our lives. We were lucky to find a hotel in DTLA, but the pain of losing everything is still overwhelming. People often say that what matters most is being alive, but that doesn't take away the heartbreak of loss."
The family, like many others, is busy rebuilding what they worked hard for and Planet Chronicle Digital has contacted them for comment.
The Eaton Fire, located in the Pasadena-Altadena area northeast of Los Angeles, is one of several fires devastating the City of Angeles. Over 29,000 acres have been affected by the fires, and approximately 14,500 homes and structures are now at risk as of Thursday – an increase from 13,000 as of Wednesday morning. Firefighters have been battling to control the wildfires, which are being fueled by strong Santa Ana winds.
