A brave 71-year-old woman successfully defends herself against a violent assault by four teenage girls on a blue subway train in the city.
A new attack has occurred on the New York City subway system, following a series of previous crimes.
On New Year's Day, a 71-year-old woman confronted a group of teenagers who were attempting to rob her on her way to church.
During the failed robbery on the New York City subway, a brave passenger bravely defended herself against four teenage girls who attacked her, punching and kicking her. This incident is just one of many crimes that have occurred on the city's transit system.
On New Year's Day in Brooklyn at approximately 6 p.m., the victim was heading to a church service when she exited a Number 3 train at Hoyt Station. However, she was then attacked by a group of teens, as reported by the NYPD and the New York Post.
The NYPD has released video footage of four suspects who tried to steal a woman's bag and struck her on the body. The suspects are still at large and the police are asking for the public's help in tracking them down.
Linda Rosa, identified by the Post as a woman from East New York, described the distressing assault to the publication, stating she was resolute in not being robbed.
Rosa was asked by one of the teens if she wanted to fight after they tried to grab her purse and get their sticky fingers on it.
Rosa's glasses were knocked to the floor and her ID and medical records were stolen by two teens, one of whom smacked her in the face.
"Rosa recounted to the Post that she was still struggling with the first person when she tried to kick her in the legs, but her leg wouldn't stretch far enough, causing her to fall. After falling, she said the person stomped on her."
Rosa stated that she fought back against the teens who were flouting the law and feared they would harm her.
"Rosa quickly stood up and grabbed the other young lady's braids, twirling them around her right hand before pulling her down. The other young lady then said, "Let her go," to which Rosa replied, "No, I'm not letting her go.""
The second teen came to the aid of the plucky senior who had earlier called out for assistance.
"Out of nowhere, I grabbed her hair and twisted it around my left hand," Rosa said. "I had them both facedown, like rams getting ready to fight."
Rosa yelled for help after the other two teens screamed at her to let the pair go.
The stunned teens bolted from the subway system after the senior eventually cut them loose.
Rosa went to the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, where the staff looked after her and called 911, according to the Post.
According to Planet Chronicle Digital, the victim received minor injuries and was transported to The Brooklyn Hospital Center in a stable condition, as stated by the police.
She expressed gratitude to the Post for not possessing weapons and stated that the terrifying incident did not cause a heart attack.
Nevertheless, she said she forgives them.
"Rosa told the Post that the teenagers were acting foolish and did not know what they did."
New York City's subway system and streets are not safe these days, as she stated.
""Anyone could be a victim of attacks, as we've seen with seniors being targeted. It can happen anywhere, at any station, even while walking or crossing the street," Rosa stated."
A day after a man was shoved onto a subway train in Manhattan, he sustained a head injury but miraculously recovered.
In Brooklyn, New York, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala was arrested for setting a woman on fire and burning her to death on a subway train days earlier.
Despite New York Governor Kathy Hochul's claims about the safety of the subway system, crimes still occur.
