A biker gang founder who is known for his involvement in the 'Seven Deadly Sins' kills seven people and a dog.
Alabama man, Frederic Allen Rogers, receives life sentence without possibility of release.
An Alabama man who founded a biker gang called the "Seven Deadly Sins" has been convicted of killing seven people, including some members of the motorcycle club, and a dog.
At trial, investigators testified that Frederic Allen Rogers, 26, confessed to murdering four of the seven victims.
On Wednesday, jurors in AL.com recommended a life sentence without parole after just three hours of deliberation.
Prosecutors wanted the death penalty.
John Michael Legg, 23, and Rogers were arrested in Oregon two weeks after the massacre when Marion County deputies stopped them.
In early June 2020, deputies discovered three people dead in a garage in Valhermoso Springs, with one of them on fire. Additionally, four more people were found dead in other parts of the home.
The victims were later identified as residents of Valhermoso Springs, including Tammy England Muzzey, Emily Brooke Payne, and Dakota Green, as well as Roger Lee Jones Jr. from Decatur, Jeramy Wade Roberts from Athens, and William Zane Hodgin from Somerville.
According to local reports, Green, the youngest victim, had been stabbed in addition to being shot multiple times.
In court, Rogers trembled as prosecutors displayed hundreds of crime scene photos, according to a report by Huntsville-based FOX 54.
At the scene, dozens of burnt casings were found, suspected to have been intentionally set on fire to destroy evidence.
Morgan County Jail escape charges have been filed against Legg, who has not yet been tried.
According to the Decatur Daily, he wore a "trusty" uniform while overseeing fellow prisoners, as he was assigned to do so by another inmate.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
