A 66-year-old Texas man was fatally shot while selling a cellphone on Facebook Marketplace, according to police.
Amaya Medrano was on probation at the time of the shooting.
According to the Dallas Police Department, a 66-year-old Texas man was recently killed after attempting to sell a cellphone on Facebook Marketplace.
On November 13, police announced the arrest of Amaya Medrano, 19, who was charged with capital murder.
On Nov. 8, Ahmad Alkhalaf was discovered deceased at an Oak Cliff gas station, with his body found beside his pickup truck, as reported by FOX 4.
"On November 8, 2024, at approximately 3 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting in the 300 block of South Marsalis Avenue, according to an announcement. Preliminary investigation revealed that one person had been shot."
The victim was transported to a local hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue but unfortunately died from their injuries.
On Facebook Marketplace, a potential buyer connected with Alkhalaf who was attempting to sell an iPhone 15.
The suspect appears to have a brief conversation with Alkhalaf before turning around, shooting the 66-year-old man, and fleeing the scene.
Police identified the suspect as Medrano due to her distinctive facial and neck tattoos, and tracked her down days later after the stolen phone was traced back to her Facebook account, which she had interacted with Alkhalaf.
According to court records obtained by FOX 4, Medrano was convicted of stabbing someone in 2023 and was serving a five-year probation sentence at the time of her arrest.
Currently, Medrano is being held in the Dallas County Jail with a bond of $1 million.
