A 66-year-old man was brutally assaulted by attackers posing as Amazon workers, according to a report.
In Savannah, Georgia, two suspects are accused of inflicting 14 stitches on a victim and stealing $80.
On the morning of Jan. 11, two men dressed as Amazon delivery employees allegedly attacked a 66-year-old pub owner in Savannah, Georgia, with a sledgehammer-like weapon, nearly killing him, according to police and local reports.
At approximately 8 a.m., two suspects, both wearing the company's distinctive blue jackets featuring the Amazon logo, arrived at the man's residence carrying a cardboard box.
According to WTOC's initial report, they were accused of attacking him with the weapon for almost eight minutes.
The two suspects, wearing ski masks, are seen in security camera footage from the Savannah Police Department's website, approaching the man's door in the 500 block of Price Street. The victim can be heard crying out for help.
The 66-year-old man was found with multiple head wounds by his neighbors after a surprise attack. He received 14 stitches and is still recovering, as reported by WTOC.
The outlet reported that the attackers escaped with $80 stolen from the victim.
According to an Amazon spokesperson, the individuals in the video were not delivering a scheduled package for Amazon, as confirmed through an internal investigation.
The spokesperson stated that Amazon regularly monitors the Internet for unauthorized Amazon apparel and demands their removal when and where possible. Additionally, people who deliver on behalf of Amazon do not typically knock on doors or ask customers to sign for packages unless previously arranged.
The two suspects are still being sought by the Savannah police, who are actively investigating the attack.
