On Saturday afternoon, a 17-year-old girl was arrested in Seattle for vandalizing public property after a left-wing protest that criticized both the Republican and Democratic Parties.
Approximately 200 demonstrators gathered at the Space Needle near downtown Seattle for the "Build the People’s Movement" event, according to police.
The group posted two videos on Facebook, one featuring members telling demonstrators that the U.S. is a "fake democracy" and the Republican and Democratic Parties are a "fake two-party system that has failed us all," and the other showing demonstrators chanting, "From the sea to the river, Palestine will live forever."
Protesters caused traffic congestion and broke city regulations while marching south on 5th Avenue from the Space Needle to Downtown Seattle, according to police.
Black graffiti was discovered on the concrete columns of the Seattle Monorail between Denny Way and Bell Street during the march.
The permanent graffiti on the wall read "Seattle with Gaza," "Pigs leave," "SPD there’s blood in your hands," and "We will see free Gaza."
The 17-year-old girl was arrested for second-degree malicious mischief after CRG officers found black spray paint on her hands and recovered matching paint from the scene.
The police did not arrest the teenager for the felony offenses following a conversation with staff at the Children & Family Justice Center.
After being processed at the West Precinct due to her juvenile status, the teen was handed over to her parents' custody.
City service crews were working to remove and clean the damaged property.
