A 12-year-old boy from Massachusetts was identified as the victim in a fatal accident involving a tree on a ski slope in New Hampshire.
In New Hampshire, a fatal ski accident resulted in the identification of Jack Murray as the victim.
A 12-year-old boy from Massachusetts was fondly remembered as a "magical" middle school student after he tragically passed away in a skiing accident in New Hampshire.
On New Year's Eve, Jack Murrary, 12, was skiing at Cranmore Mountain in Conway, New Hampshire, when he collided with a tree while on an intermediate trail. Despite the accident, the young boy was wearing a protective helmet.
The Conway Police Department stated that he was discovered unconscious and was transported to MaineHealth Memorial Hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Jack, born on May 23, 2012, was the cherished son of Paul and Crystal and the adored older brother to Finley Murray of Weymouth. He was a remarkable little boy who was destined to become an exceptional man.
"Jack's infectious positivity, laughter, and compassion make him a loving and patient person who always sees the best in people. He is the greatest child a parent could ask for, and we are all better people for having known him."
In lieu of flowers, Jack's family requested that people donate to a music program in his memory, as he played drums in the school band.
Paul Murray, Jack's father, wrote on the GoFundMe page that helping other aspiring musicians like Jack access the arts to enrich their lives is a wonderful way to honor Jack's memory.
The 12-year-old was remembered as a "bright light" in his obituary, with his family highlighting an extensive list of interests that the middle school student was deeply passionate about.
""Jack, the brightest shining light in life, may have shone for only a short time, but he accomplished more in twelve years than most do in a lifetime," the obituary stated."
Murray was celebrated for his entrepreneurial spirit, his love for soccer, music, and his artistic talents.
Jack's absence will leave a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him and the entire Weymouth community, as his family said.
"Let us all draw inspiration from Jack's life and apply it to our own. We will always and forever love you, Jack."
A spokesperson for Cranmore Mountain Resort expressed sympathy for the "tragic loss" following the accident.
"Cranmore Mountain Resort expresses its deepest condolences to the family," a resort spokesperson stated. "The entire Cranmore family is mourning this unfortunate loss."
The Conway Police Chief, Christopher Mattei, expressed the same sentiment as the ski resort, stating: "On behalf of the Conway Police Department and all the first responders who assisted, I offer my deepest condolences to the family of the 12-year-old boy."
