Texas' breakout game for Arch Manning was all thanks to his mom's speed training.
UTSA was dominated by Manning in a standout performance.
On Saturday, Arch Manning took advantage of his chance to play when he replaced Quinn Ewers as the Texas Longhorns quarterback against UTSA due to an injury.
The Longhorns' 56-7 win was fueled by Manning's 67-yard rushing touchdown and four passing touchdowns.
Manning's wheels were unlike anything most fans had seen from someone with his football background. His grandfather, Archie, and his uncle, Peyton, each had 18 career rushing touchdowns. His other uncle, Eli, had seven.
What is the source of Arch's speed, according to his father, Cooper?
Cooper, the older brother of Peyton and Eli, wrote on Instagram that he definitely inherited his speed from his mother.
Ellen Heidingsfelder, Arch Manning's mother, is a successful lawyer in Louisiana. Although she tends to avoid the limelight, she was an accomplished athlete in her youth, playing both volleyball and track and field.
Although the Texas quarterback is still slated to be the backup to Ewers upon his return from injury, the Longhorns have gained a clear understanding of what Manning can contribute to the offense when he gets the chance to start.
Ewers is questionable to play against Louisiana-Monroe.
Arch is just another guy on our team, and the reason I'm able to treat him as such is because that's who he is every day," Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday, via ESPN. "He's the selfless teammate. He cares about the guys on the team. He cares about Quinn. They've got a great relationship. He works his tail off. He wants to play good football for them, because he knows how hard everybody's working.
"I don't address the issue with him or the team, as he is simply a part of the team."
Texas took over the No. 1 spot in the latest AP poll.
