McDonald's character Grimace makes a lasting impact on the 2024 Mets season with the unveiling of his seat.
Since Grimace threw out the first pitch, the Mets have been 53-31.
On Monday, the New York Mets dedicated a Citi Field seat to the McDonald's character, Grimace.
On Monday, the ballpark saw Grimace make another appearance, and New York won another close game, 2-1, with Starling Marte delivering the game-winning single that defeated the Washington Nationals.
Grimace's presence has led to a seven-game winning streak for the Mets in June. Since June 12, the team has been 53-31 and tied with the Atlanta Braves for the final playoff spot before a win over the Nats.
The seat in the second deck in right field in row 6, seat 12 is available for purchase during the final Mets home games of the regular season.
The Grimace phenomenon was created by our fanbase after Brenden Mallette, the Mets’ senior vice president of partnerships, saw it following the first pitch in June.
"Installing a commemorative seat ahead of fan appreciation weekend was the ideal way to give back to our fans and celebrate our new celebrity fan, while also capturing the magic of this moment."
The Mets executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Andy Goldberg, did not claim that the seat he was referring to was in the same league as Ted Williams' seat at Fenway Park, where he hit a 502-foot home run in June 1946. The organization was simply having some fun.
""This year has been enjoyable, and we've been playing well. Since May, we've been performing exceptionally, which has added to the mystery," he stated."
The Philadelphia Phillies will face New York in their final home game of the season on Sunday. New York has six home games remaining and is currently 82-68.
