Derek Carr of the Saints discusses the Michael Jackson dance moves he performed after scoring a touchdown against the Cowboys.
The Saints have begun the season strongly, thanks to Carr.
The most surprising thing about the New Orleans Saints' victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday was not Derek Carr's performance.
While Carr had 243 passing yards, two touchdown passes, and a rushing score, it was his dance moves that truly captured the attention of fans during the Saints' 44-19 victory.
With only 39 seconds remaining in the first half, Carr scored a goal from the goal line, followed by a Michael Jackson dance in the end zone. This was a fitting conclusion to a huge win for New Orleans, which helped them begin the season with a 2-0 record.
On Tuesday, the veteran quarterback opened up about the move.
"I'm not well-known to many people, but I love dancing at weddings and celebrations," Carr said to ESPN. "Once, I performed the Michael Jackson move and my brothers encouraged me to do it again if I scored."
In his second year as the Saints' quarterback, Carr is currently leading the NFL with five touchdown passes and has accumulated 443 passing yards in the first two games. The Saints won their Week 1 game against the Carolina Panthers.
In 2023, he had 3,878 passing yards and 25 touchdown passes, surpassing his previous performance with the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite playing only 15 games, he appeared to have found his rhythm under Klint Kubiak's offense. Kubiak replaced Pete Carmichael as the offensive coordinator, making it Carr's fourth offensive coordinator in four years.
The Saints will welcome the Philadelphia Eagles into New Orleans on Sunday.
